Briefs 2008.10.30: the non-Halloween edition

* SciFiWire reports Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander is going to film. “Essential Pictures has launched development of Outlander as a potential movie franchise based on the Diana Gabaldon series of fantasy novels, Variety reported. The new company’s out to directors with an adaptation from Randall Wallace (Braveheart); the goal is to start production next spring.”

* And in a strangely related twist: The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is out of print. Gabaldon wrote comics for Disney in her pre-Outlander days, and Scrooge was one of her favourites.
